The 2009 Good Food Awards

Auckland restaurant Merediths has been named New Zealand’s best restaurant by restaurant critic Michael Guy in the 2009 Good Food Awards.
The Runner-up was Boutereys at Richmond just outside Nelson.
The awards, now in their 20th year, have been announced in the latest issue of Café magazine.
“Our judges agreed that the relatively small size of Merediths restaurant allowed Michael Meredith and his team to present dishes that were superbly prepared and plated,” he said.
“It was the same with Boutereys at Richmond. Matt Bouterey’s experience in Michelin starred restaurants overseas, coupled with his passion for local ingredients, has allowed him to create a wonderful dining experience.”
Restaurants that have retained their position at the top for the second year in a year include Northland’s A Deco in Whangarei, Logan Brown in Wellington and Wendy Campbell’s French Bistro in the Wairarapa.
Newcomers to the awards list include Southland winner Eat on Windsor in Invercargill and Dunedin’s 2 Chefs.
